Preservation Maryland has just substantially expanded the number of archival images available for public use on our Flickr account.

Hundreds of digitized photos from our physical photography collection will append the thousands of more recent born-digital images already on Flickr – many of the photos are replete with detailed metadata, such as location, architectural style, building materials, and relevant information about the history of the site.

The images were recently digitized and processed by Connor Mullane, a Waxter Memorial Internship Program participant at Preservation Maryland and a student at the University of Maryland’s iSchool. Connor was hosted by Digital Maryland at their brand new Digitization Lab in the renovated central branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore City and our images are hosted on Digital Maryland. Previously, Waxter Interns, Benjamin Israel, Rachel Rabinowitz, Cynthia Heider, and others have all had a hand in this massive and technical project.

Thousands of images of Maryland’s historic sites, museums, landscapes, and preservationists, are now available for public use under a Creative Commons license. Images are organized by location and major Preservation Maryland. Historians may also like to check out the From Our Archive photo album.
