Preservation Maryland and the Maryland Historical Trust are pleased to award over $50,000 in grant funds to several significant heritage tourism destinations, including Main Streets, open spaces, historic sites, and cultural attractions.
I am reaching out to my fellow Marylanders today, to ask for your support at a time when our organization needs you most – and when our work is as relevant as ever.
Our Grants Save Maryland Treasures & Help Revitalize Historic Communities
11/13/2020 By Katie Parks
When you donate to Preservation Maryland, you are donating to the heart of Maryland’s historic communities. Each year deserving community organizations are turned down for grant funds because of a lack of grant funds. Your gift can make the difference between – lost and saved.

State Heritage Fund Grant with Maryland Historical Trust
In 2020, our statewide Heritage Fund grant program distributed $96,100 in grants that leveraged $702,631 in total project costs.
We received 68 Heritage Fund grant applications and $659,669.96 in grant requests. If we were able to fund all projects, the much-needed investment would be nearly 3 Million dollars! ($2,720,250.57 to be exact).
Preservation Maryland has administered the Heritage Fund program since 1997 and supported 430 projects in every corner of the state.
The 1.4 million in direct investment from the Heritage Fund program has gone on to leverage over $20million in public and private investment in our state’s history.
Annual support from our generous members allows Preservation Maryland to advocate for historic buildings, neighborhoods, and landscapes throughout Maryland, offer important educational programming, and to provide grants to directly preserve the best of Maryland. Your gift directly supports the preservation of Maryland’s irreplaceable heritage — and helps revitalize the heart of our historic communities.
