Did you see the Galloway mansion floating across the Chesapeake Bay on the local news or a viral video clip online? That was the work of Sharptown, Maryland-based, Expert House Movers, a national leader in structural lifting and transport.

MORE ABOUT THE COMPANY

Structural moving, raising, and house lifting services in Sharptown, Maryland, is a Matyiko family tradition spanning over three generations.

In 1954, John Matyiko Sr., son of a Hungarian immigrant, started a house moving company in Virginia Beach, VA. As his four sons came of age, Johnny, Joe, Jimmy and Jerry all joined the family business. In 1974 Jerry Matyiko started up a new house moving operation, Expert House Movers Inc. on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Willing to take on any job no matter how large or small, this new venture quickly earned the reputation of being able to handle even the most challenging projects. In 2002, Gabriel Matyiko, Jerry’s oldest son, joined the company full time and is involved in every aspect of the business.

Expert House Movers Inc. utilizes the latest technology, bringing the best team of professionals, and over 70 years of experience to every project. The company’s track record includes the relocation of six lighthouses, the most notable the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, NC, historic theatres in MI, WI, and MN, a historic airport terminal in Newark, NJ, and two covered bridges in upstate New York.

For their expertise in structural moving, sometimes the only way to save an endangered historic structures, and commitment in their family business in the Old Line State, Preservation Maryland is honored to present Expert House Movers with the 2020 Best of Maryland President’s Award.
