Convening the Old Line State Summit at the U.S. Naval Academy this July was an honor for Preservation Maryland and a privilege to share the unique opportunity to spend the day on the historic campus. Many of the sessions have been recorded and presentations made available as free resources to the preservation community.
Preservation Maryland is currently laying the groundwork to convene a workgroup of history, preservation, economic development, and tourism organizations to focus on public policy and funding sources to support Maryland’s historical and cultural resources. We’re recruiting organizations now for a kick-off in fall of 2017.
The response by Preservation Maryland to the Ellicott City flood of 2016 was an opportunity to utilize our strengths – our understanding of historic buildings – to help those impacted. It has also been one of the greatest challenges. In our “After Action Report,” we summarized our actions to provide the opportunity to learn from our experiences.
