Paid Internship: Preserving Rural Maryland

Through a grant from the Rural Maryland Council, Preservation Maryland seeks an intern to support an organization-wide initiative to provide focused outreach and preservation resources to Maryland’s many rural counties.

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

Project: Provide support for Preservation Maryland rural initiatives, including: researching and writing about rural preservation topics to support outreach materials, website resources, and our podcast; scheduling and attending outreach events.

Skills: Experience in researching history and familiarity with historic/archival resources in Maryland. General office and computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Word and using the internet as a research tool, comfortable making phone calls. Experience in historic preservation, landscape preservation, journalism/blogging a plus.

When: Flexible daily/weekly schedule, 20+ hours/week, 2-3 days/week in office, minimum 3 month commitment; preferred start in Winter 2018.

Where: Preservation Maryland office in Baltimore City with required travel throughout Maryland.

Compensation: Interns are paid hourly with some travel expenses reimbursed.

ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIPS

Preservation Maryland offers an array of opportunities to work and learn with our organization in a meaningful way by inviting interns to participate in a number of important projects. Our staff are experts on and passionate about Maryland’s heritage. We offer a welcoming office environment in Baltimore City in a renovated historic mill with a flexible schedule.

Interns are paid hourly and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Internships are open to students, recent graduates, and all those with an interest in preservation and a dedication to helping protect what makes Maryland great.
