2009 Preservation and Revitalization Conference
May 28-29, 2009, Tremont Grand, Baltimore, Maryland

The 2009 Preservation and Revitalization Conference was held in Baltimore on May 28 and 29. Over 460 participants converged on the Tremont Grand for two days of educational sessions highlighting both national and local trends in the field of historic preservation. In addition to the 27 classroom sessions, 14 field sessions highlighted the preservation and revitalization efforts in Baltimore City and the surrounding area.

The Conference also featured three special events including a reception to welcome attendees to Baltimore featuring a visit from Edgar Allen Poe. We were pleased to welcome Carl Elefante, Director of Sustainable Design at  QUINN EVANS l ARCHITECTS as our keynote speaker for this year's plenary session. Mr. Elefante addressed the role of historic preservation in the green movement and issued a call to action for collaboration between the two movements. The final event of the Conference was the Maryland Historical Trust Awards and Reception which presented 19 awards to outstanding projects and preservation leaders in Maryland.

As we review the 2009 conference, we are looking forward to building an even more successful conference for the future. If you attended the conference and have not done so already please take a moment to fill out our conference survey.

Please contact Jessica Feldt at jfeldt@preservationmaryland.org with any questions about the conference.
