What is the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT)?
The Maryland Historical Trust serves as Maryland’s State Historic Preservation Office and administers a variety of programs supporting historic preservation. The trust is an agency of the Department of Planning and is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the legacy of Maryland’s past through research, conservation and education. MHT manages the Maryland Inventory of Historic Places; administers grants, loans and tax credits programs; participates in Section 106 reviews and holds and monitors more than 600 historic preservation easements on significant properties around the state.
